Today I am clearing out a small bedroom that has become “the place where everything is hidden” (thank you J.K. Rowling for giving me the perfect description). As I mentioned before, we are expecting guests later this year, and I need to get a couple bedrooms to a state where they are worthy of other people seeing them.
Today is the Before before the Before.
I will be charting my progress while freshening up these rooms, but I just can bring myself to publish a photo of their current state. The room I am working on today has a nice twin bed (which I hope to convert into a day bed), beautiful storage furniture, and my great uncles antique steamer trunk, which I love. Unfortunately, it also currently contains all of the miscellaneous decor items that I haven’t been able to part with but have no where to put, bits and pieces that I should recycle but think that just maybe there may be another use for, bulk paper product storage, a huge storage bin holding all of our heirloom linens that need to be re-directed back to the cedar chest they belong in, and, oh yes, the boxes of items slated for delivery to Goodwill.
It’s amazing how a living space can become a dumping ground in such a short amount of time. Today, I start fixing some of that.
Tonight I’ll post a photo of the actual “before” – the one that I can actually stomach showing the world.
Wish me luck!!
