First of all, I should explain that we call it the “twin room” because it is our guest room with a twin bed in it. (We also have the Queen Room, and while that sounds all fancy, it’s not what you think) Here it is in the “before” state:
The bones are pretty good in this room. It’s a decent size and has a nice chair rail. It currently houses a twin bed, a 3 piece entertainment center, and a couple of antique chairs and trunks (oh, and it also sports a boob light fixture, which, unfortunately for all, went unphotographed and unappreciated in this post. Sorry). Good furnishings to start with, I think. But this room screams nothing but B.O.R.I.N.G. to me. At the top of it’s lungs. All. Day. Long. Every. Day. Help. Me. Please.
All right, you get the picture.
Mr. O. and I are big fans of the water. Lakes, rivers, oceans – whatever we can get close to. So I would like this room to have a watery, beachy feeling without going overboard, so to speak. (I know, bad pun. Sorry. Sort of)
Here is the direction I am heading with this room. I’m trying to stay away from a “theme” but still give it nudge to the water we love. So we can have a little bit of beachy feeling, even in the dead of winter.
I love the blues and neutrals – just the casualness of the whole thing makes me happy. The rug is IKEA, the paint colors are Benjamin Moore, the daybeds are Pottery Barn, the rest I found on Pinterest. Within the next week I hope to get the painting and DIY projects started, so I can start pulling it all together from the fuzzy picture in my head.
Meanwhile, I’ll also be posting the before’s and ideas for the rest of the house, so we can all fully grasp the magnitude of the projects we have going on over here. :)
We also have some exciting news brewing over here at o’habitation! It’s going to takes us a little while to iron out all the details, but keep your ears to the ground! We’ll share it just as soon as we can.
Stay tuned!
